sumbangan RM120,000 daripada Syarikat DCHL kepada Yayasan Pencegahan Jenayah Malaysia (MCPF)

KUALA LUMPUR 16 Sept.

Dah Joyah agak.

‘’Memang kami berkawan baik.

Jangan kahwin lari sudahlah.

The Therapeutic Of Aromatherapy

The therapeutic effect derived from aromatherapy is to enhance and strengthen the internal healing process. This action occurs through an indirect stimulation of an individual’s immunity system.

Lampe Berger Essential Oils contain therapeutic properties such as anti-virus, anti-inflammation, pain relief, anti-depression, as well as expectorant qualities. The essential oils can also stimulate, relax, aid digestion or have a diuretic affect.

The Practice Of Aroma Therapy

Aromatherapy uses pure essential oils, extracted from many parts of the plant (flower, leaf, resin, bark, twig, seed, berry, ring and rhizome). They are generally classified as citrus, floral, earthy, spicy, resinous or woody.

Aromatherapy is both an art and a science. It is an art because of the intuitive and creative aspects of preparing various blends of essential oils, and a science because it relies on scientific knowledge during extraction processes. Indeed, each method of extraction gives a different product, as each process extracts different constituents from the plant.

Thus, aromatherapy is not about “nice fragrances” but rather it is a complete system of healing which, when
properly used, helps to relax, re-establish
“homeostasis”, or harmony, in the body
and to achieve a state of equilibrium
whilst promoting and maintaining
good health and vitality.

Why Aroma Therapy?

Aromatherapy is a way to improve the quality of life on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

Essential oils are aromatic, highly concentrated, non-oily essences that are extracted from herbs and plants. Their purposes encompass both the physical aspects such as relaxation of muscles through massage to the emotional aspects of uplifting moods. On a spiritual level, essential oils are beneficial for meditation and general feeling of well-being.

The idea behind aromatherapy is, first, to find scents which are unique for each individual, that evoke positive sensory feelings and emotions, and then introduce these scents into our everyday life to enhance holistic well-being.

Natural scents keep us connected to the earth, sparking pleasant memories and emotions.

What Is Aroma Therapy

Aromatherapy is derived from two words: “Aroma”, meaning scent or fragrance, and “Therapy”, meaning treatment. With origins dating back 5,000 years, ancient civilizations in China, Egypt and India have been using flowers, plants and their essences for healing benefits.

Aromatherapy is an art of healing based on nature. A basic principle of aromatherapy is to strengthen the self-healing process by indirect stimulation of the immunity system. The usage intensity of essential oils is extensive, ranging from deep and penetrating therapeutic treatment to the subtlety of a unique and pleasing fragrance.

Lavender

Medicinal Uses and Indications

Although professional herbalists and aromatherapists use lavender to treat a variety of conditions (described later), clinical studies thus far have only demonstrated benefit for insomnia and alopecia (hair loss).

Insomnia
In folklore, pillows were filled with lavender flowers to help the restless fall sleep. There is now scientific evidence to suggest that aromatherapy with lavender slows the activity of the nervous system, improves sleep quality, promotes relaxation, and lifts mood in people suffering from sleep disorders. Studies also suggest that massage with essential oils, particularly lavender, may result in improved sleep quality, more stable mood, increased mental capacity, and reduced anxiety. In one recent study, participants who received massage with lavender felt less anxious and more positive than participants who received massage alone. Lavender flowers have also been approved by the Commission E in Germany as a tea for insomnia, restlessness, and nervous stomach irritations.

Alopecia areata
In one study of 86 people with alopecia areata (a disease of unknown cause characterized by significant hair loss, generally in patches), those who massaged their scalps with lavender and other essential oils daily for 7 months experienced significant hair re-growth compared to those who massaged their scalps without the essential oils. It is not entirely clear from this study whether lavender (or a combination of lavender and other essential oils) was responsible for the beneficial effects.

Other
Aromatherapists also use lavender as a tonic in inhalation therapy to treat headaches, nervous disorders, and exhaustion. Herbalists treat skin ailments, such as fungal infections (like candidiasis), wounds, eczema, and acne, with lavender oil. It is also used externally in a healing bath for circulatory disorders and as a rub for rheumatic ailments (conditions affecting the muscles and joints). One study evaluating essential oils, including lavender, for treating children with eczema concluded that the oils added no benefit to therapeutic touch from the mother; in other words massage with and without essential oils was equally effective in improving the dry, scaly skin lesion.

History of Aromatherapy

The absolute & essential oils used in Aromatherapy are distilled from plants that
come from every continent on the globe. Each essential oil comes from a specific
plant. Each plant shares a vibrant aromatic energy.

Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential and absolute oils. Essential oils are complex, highly

fragrant and volatile substances, with varying degrees of complexity, fragrance, and volatility.
They are the most potent and concentrated extracts of various parts of flowers, fruits, leaves,
spices, roots, and woods. The plant's essence molecules are approximately 75-100 times more
concentrated as an essential oil than in the dried plant.

While in the plant, the essence molecules play a key role in the biochemistry of the plant --
they are located between the cells of the plant and these molecules act as regulators and
messengers. By giving the plant its aromatic essence, they are also thought to give the plant its
"life force". They also protect the plant from parasites and disease, and play an important role
in fertilization and assist the plant's adaptation to its environment.

To obtain essential oils the aromatic essence molecules of the plant must be captured by
using a technical distillation or extraction method. In earlier times, the art of distillation was
held in the hands of the few and was considered to be an alchemical transformation of spirit,
a bridge between the two realms.

The term "essential oil" is used somewhat loosely as it is often applied to all aromatic
products such as essence oils, absolutes, resinoids, and concretes. In Aromatherapy, the most
common method of extraction is steam distillation. However, cold expression is used for citrus
oils, and a method of solvent extraction for absolutes, concretes and resinoids. The newest
technological process of extraction is the hypercritical carbon dioxide method: in part due to
high cost, it is not as commonly available.

Aroma Therapy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aromatherapy, commonly associated with complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), is the use of volatile liquid plant materials, known as essential oils (EOs), and other aromatic compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood or health. Aromatherapy is a generic term that refers to any of the various traditions that make use of essential oils sometimes in combination with other alternative medical practices and spiritual beliefs. It has a particularly Western currency and persuasion. Medical treatment involving aromatic scents may exist outside of the West, but may or may not be intended by the term 'aromatherapy'.
